1. About ScOAR
ScOAR (Scriptural Orientation, Application & Resolution) is a free AI-powered biblical guidance tool operated by the ScOAR App Team. ScOAR is available as a web app at app.scoarapp.com and through iOS and Android app stores.
ScOAR is a ministry tool provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no paywall, and no advertising. If you find ScOAR valuable, you may choose to support it through voluntary donations — but you are never required to pay to use it.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ScOAR — including the app at app.scoarapp.com and the website at scoarapp.org — you confirm that:
- You are at least 13 years of age
- You have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy
- If you are between 13 and 17, you have the awareness and implicit permission of a parent or guardian
- If you are using ScOAR on behalf of an organization, you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms
3. Nature of the Service — Important Limitations
ScOAR is not a substitute for pastoral counsel, professional mental health support, or medical advice. It is an AI-powered tool designed to help you find relevant Bible verses and reflection. It has real limitations.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI responses may contain errors. ScOAR uses artificial intelligence to generate biblical guidance. AI can misquote, misinterpret, or provide incomplete information. Always verify verses and interpretations with your own Bible.
- ScOAR is not a replacement for human pastoral guidance. For serious personal, spiritual, or life decisions, please seek counsel from a pastor, counselor, or trusted adult.
- ScOAR is not a crisis service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact emergency services (911 in the US), the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US), or the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).
- ScOAR does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice. Nothing in the app should be construed as professional advice of any kind.
- Doctrinal accuracy is not guaranteed. ScOAR draws from broadly evangelical Christian tradition. Responses may not reflect the specific theological position of your denomination or church.
4. User Accounts
Creating an account is optional. You can use ScOAR's core features without an account. If you choose to create an account:
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
- You must provide a valid email address
- You must not share your account with others or impersonate another person
- You must notify us at info@scoarapp.org if you believe your account has been compromised
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Acceptable Use
ScOAR is provided for personal, non-commercial spiritual guidance. You agree not to:
- Use ScOAR to generate content intended to deceive, harass, or harm others
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the ScOAR API or infrastructure
- Submit queries designed to test or break the AI system rather than seek genuine guidance
- Use ScOAR in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Use ScOAR for commercial purposes without prior written permission from the ScOAR App Team
We reserve the right to limit or suspend access to ScOAR for any user who we reasonably believe is violating these Terms.
6. Bible Translations
ScOAR currently uses public domain Bible translations including the World English Bible (WEB), American Standard Version (ASV), King James Version (KJV), and equivalent public domain translations in other languages. These translations are used in good faith and in accordance with their public domain status.
ScOAR does not claim ownership of any Bible translation text. All Scripture quoted within the app is used for non-commercial ministry purposes only.
7. Intellectual Property
The ScOAR name, logo, eagle icon, application design, and original written content on this website are the property of the ScOAR App Team. You may not reproduce or use these without permission.
AI-generated responses produced by ScOAR are provided to you for personal use. You are free to copy, share, and use them for personal or ministry purposes. We ask that if you share ScOAR responses publicly, you attribute them to ScOAR and encourage others to use the app directly.
8. Privacy
Your use of ScOAR is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it carefully — it explains what data we collect, how we store it, and your rights regarding that data.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
ScOAR is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the ScOAR App Team disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or doctrinal correctness of AI-generated responses
You use ScOAR at your own risk and with the understanding that it is an AI tool with real limitations.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the ScOAR App Team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — ScOAR, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of ScOAR shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Since ScOAR is free, this amount is zero.
11. Changes to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue ScOAR (or any part of it) at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to provide notice of significant changes. Since ScOAR is a free ministry tool, we do not owe compensation for any changes or discontinuation.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ScOAR after a Terms update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ScOAR shall be resolved in the courts of New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
14. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at info@scoarapp.org. We are a small team and will do our best to respond promptly.
